Welcome to Campo Yazu Ministries Website

We thank you for stopping by and for taking time to allow us to share God's vision for us as we serve the Miskito Indians on the Mosquito Coast of Honduras.  Campo Yazu Ministries seeks to minister to the whole man...body, soul, and spirit.  We believe that it is the responsibility of all believers in Christ to share the good news of Jesus as Savior and Lord to all people of the world.  We believe we should do this in deeds of love and proclamation.  The Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19-20) compels us to make evangelism our first and primary focus.  Everything we do must filter through the desire for and the purpose of evangelizing a lost and dying world.

God Loves Me!

October 21st, 2011   -    Campo Yazu Ministry News

"Beloved, if God loved us so (very much), we also ought to love one another." 1John 4:11

Love is evidence of salvation.  If you are born of God through faith in Jesus Christ, you have His nature within (2 Peter 1:4).  Since God is love, His children who have His nature should be like their Father.  Our love for others makes God's love real and visible to them so we can better witness to them about Christ.  It also makes God real and personal to us.  Merely reading in the Bible about God's love isn't enough.  We should seek to experience that love in our hearts by sharing Christ with others.

Just as truth is victorious over lies, love is victorious over fear.  As we mature in our love for God, we realize that we have nothing to fear, for our Father has everything under control!  We trust those we love, and faith and love will give us victory over any fear we face.  We are at peace with God and need not be afraid (Romans 5: 6-11).  If God did so much for us when we were His enemies, think what He will do for us now that we are His child!

As the Christmas season nears, think about this reality:  Jesus is the Father's love gift!  John 3: 16 is a Scripture favorite to many of us who learned it when we were children in Sunday School or VBS.  The Amplified Bible reads, "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even]gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." As love is the highest expression of God and His relation to mankind, so it must be the highest expression of man's relation to his Maker and to his fellow-man.

Love is the greatest thing in the world!  1 Corinthians 12:31 teaches us that love should be number one on our spiritual priority list.  We should study love, pray about love, and develop the fruit of love by practicing loving others.  We learn in Galatians 5: 22, 23 that love is one of the nine fruits of the Spirit available to those in whom God's Holy Spirit lives.

God is love, so when we walk in His love we abide in Him.  Because we walk in God's love by receiving and expressing it, we should not deceive ourselves into thinking we can love God while we hate other people (see 1 John 4: 20).  We seek many things during our lifetimes, hoping to find fulfillment in them.  But without love, these things fall short of the desired goal.  When we put our time and energy into things that do not fulfill us, we feel frustrated.  Love is the best thing we can commit our life to.  It took me more years than I want to admit, and certainly more time than it should have, to realize that my priorities were mixed up and that love was not the main thing in my life.  It was not my first priority, but it needed to be.  The commitment to learn how to walk in love has been the single best decision I have ever made as a Christian!

Love not only blesses others; it also blesses the one doing the loving.  Concentration on being a blessing to others will bring joy to our hearts like we've never before known!  We can only truly love others by receiving and expressing God's love.  When we do, we begin a love walk that causes us to live in a new way—a new way of thinking, a new way of speaking, and a new way of acting.  Love is expressed in many different ways, but one factor is always the same:  LOVE GIVES!

May God shower His abundant and unconditional love upon each of you, dear brothers and sisters-in-Christ.   Hope your Saturday is filled with many gentle reminders of how very much God loves you, remembering also that we are blessed in our live by God in order to be a blessing!

2011 Furlough

   October 12th, 2011   -    Furlough
What a "whirlwind" of blessings God has poured out upon us through so many of you during our furlough this year!  We arrived safely back to Honduras this afternoon and will remain in the city a few days to buy supplies before going on home to Campo Yazu.  We were overwhelmed at God's favor today, with His travelling mercies and protection.  Thanks to all of you who ministered to us during our furlough.  Remember...serve the Lord with gladness on your mission field!

Good Fruit Begins With Good Seed

May 1st, 2011   -    Campo Yazu Ministry News

As babies we begin with a knowledge of a mother's love and at that time, we don't understand.  We just know that this love is there.  That is natural love, beginning as a seedling.  Then as children, we watch and learn from the actions we see modeled by others.  We take that knowledge with us into the world as we become individuals. The seedling then becomes a tree.

The love that as babies we have felt and as children we have seen, so now as adults, we know.  We are able to pass this love on to others, thereby continuing the cycle.

Christians begin with a knowledge of God's love.  We continue to learn, constantly moving closer to the Son.  Our relationships with God grow until our lives overflow with His love, showing the world our Christian fruit.  Christians should bear good fruit.

Just as apple seeds bear apples, so our mother Beth Anthony bore love, available to anyone at any time.  Every adult she came into contact with was treated with respect and every child was given love in the form of Godly instruction.  Every baby was precious to Mama and they were all treated with a tenderness that only a mother could give.

Mama went home to be with her dear Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 16, 2011.  As family and friends met together to share memories of her, the recurring theme of her life was her love for serving her Lord through the service of others.  What a legacy she left behind...to love and serve God with diligence and joy!  She was never happier and more content than when she was helping others.

Mama loved Jesus, her family and her church and particularly enjoyed working in her church and community.  She felt so blessed to serve on mission teams within the U.S. as well as in the countries of Belize, Costa Rica, and Honduras.  We know that she is reaping her Heavenly rewards of her untiring and selfless service to others from her love for and devotion to her Lord!

What kind of fruit do you produce?  What kind of legacy will you leave behind when you leave this earth?  Plant "Kingdom seeds" and look for the eternal harvest in the lives you touch each day.

"For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit, neither doth a  corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."  Luke 6:43

Writer's note:  This was James' part of his mother's eulogy given at her service.
