Welcome to Campo Yazu Ministries Website

We thank you for stopping by and for taking time to allow us to share God's vision for us as we serve the Miskito Indians on the Mosquito Coast of Honduras.  Campo Yazu Ministries seeks to minister to the whole man...body, soul, and spirit.  We believe that it is the responsibility of all believers in Christ to share the good news of Jesus as Savior and Lord to all people of the world.  We believe we should do this in deeds of love and proclamation.  The Great Commission (Matthew 28: 19-20) compels us to make evangelism our first and primary focus.  Everything we do must filter through the desire for and the purpose of evangelizing a lost and dying world.

Believing God For "New Things"

January 31st, 2012   -    Campo Yazu Ministry News

Just a few weeks ago, I wrote a newsletter article entitled, "New Things". Here's an excerpt:

We at Campo Yazu Ministries sense in our spirits that God is getting ready to do a "new thing" here.  We are believing Him for new ministry opportunities to "enlarge our territory", meaning that we are asking God to enlarge our lives and our ministry so that we can make a greater impact for Him.

Bruce Wilkinson's little book entitled, The Prayer Of Jabez was an eye-opener to many a Christian several years ago.  But, it's not a magic formula to "name it and claim it" for what we want from God . As in this prayer from 1Chronicles 4:10, if we pray that God would give us new opportunities to serve Him, then why does it come as a surprise when the devil steps up his attacks of opposition?  My husband reminded me this morning that when we take new "territory" for God, we're taking it from someone else!

Now, sometimes it's grows a little uncomfortable remaining in God's "waiting room" for longer than we feel is necessary. We know that God has clearly given us His direction for us to follow as His plan for our lives. But when we don't get immediate action from God, we start to believe the devil and doubt God. I have been earnestly praying for God to do whatever work in me that is necessary in order for me to be a fit and ready vessel for His use in claiming as much "territory" as possible for the Kingdom.  Be careful praying this, however, as it is a "green light" for the Holy Spirit to go to work, shining upon hearts, the light of His conviction.  In his book entitled Give It All To Him, Max Lucado makes these observations:

Everybody in the house always seems to walk by the garbage can... Denial does not remove the trash.  Admitting that there is trash is the first step toward disposal.  Do you want to say good riddance to the trash bags in your life?  First John 1:9 tells you how.  Confession leads to forgiveness, and forgiveness leads to cleansing... Unconfessed sin leads to a state of disagreement.  You may be God's child, but you don't want to talk to him.  He still loves you, but until you admit what you've done, there's going to be tension in the house... God's seed grows better if the soil of the heart is cleared.

I discovered a profound truth.  When I begin to be dissatisfied with my life (and impatient with God), the one with whom to find fault is ME, not God!  So, I decided that since the Word of God is the only reliable Source for answers, that was the best place for me to go.  God did not disappoint or turn me away as I sought His Truth.  And, let me just say here, that if we're not receiving spiritual "nourishment" from the Bible every day, the devil will make sure that he feeds our spirits with his kind of nourishment. Years ago, a spiritual mentor of mine told me that when I'm seeking answers to problems in my life, to just get in the Bible and stay there for however long as it takes until my peace and joy are restored.  Well, there you have it!

I'd like to report that my restoration was quick and is now complete.  But, if you've walked with God for any length of time, you already know that God's ways aren't our ways and He's NOT in a hurry!  But, gradually, and even now, still progressively, as I yield myself to Him, He is conforming me more and more each day into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.  May my life be a living testimony to His love, mercy and grace!

He must increase, but I must decrease.  John 3:30

God Loves Me!

October 21st, 2011   -    Campo Yazu Ministry News

"Beloved, if God loved us so (very much), we also ought to love one another." 1John 4:11

Love is evidence of salvation.  If you are born of God through faith in Jesus Christ, you have His nature within (2 Peter 1:4).  Since God is love, His children who have His nature should be like their Father.  Our love for others makes God's love real and visible to them so we can better witness to them about Christ.  It also makes God real and personal to us.  Merely reading in the Bible about God's love isn't enough.  We should seek to experience that love in our hearts by sharing Christ with others.

Just as truth is victorious over lies, love is victorious over fear.  As we mature in our love for God, we realize that we have nothing to fear, for our Father has everything under control!  We trust those we love, and faith and love will give us victory over any fear we face.  We are at peace with God and need not be afraid (Romans 5: 6-11).  If God did so much for us when we were His enemies, think what He will do for us now that we are His child!

As the Christmas season nears, think about this reality:  Jesus is the Father's love gift!  John 3: 16 is a Scripture favorite to many of us who learned it when we were children in Sunday School or VBS.  The Amplified Bible reads, "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even]gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life." As love is the highest expression of God and His relation to mankind, so it must be the highest expression of man's relation to his Maker and to his fellow-man.

Love is the greatest thing in the world!  1 Corinthians 12:31 teaches us that love should be number one on our spiritual priority list.  We should study love, pray about love, and develop the fruit of love by practicing loving others.  We learn in Galatians 5: 22, 23 that love is one of the nine fruits of the Spirit available to those in whom God's Holy Spirit lives.

God is love, so when we walk in His love we abide in Him.  Because we walk in God's love by receiving and expressing it, we should not deceive ourselves into thinking we can love God while we hate other people (see 1 John 4: 20).  We seek many things during our lifetimes, hoping to find fulfillment in them.  But without love, these things fall short of the desired goal.  When we put our time and energy into things that do not fulfill us, we feel frustrated.  Love is the best thing we can commit our life to.  It took me more years than I want to admit, and certainly more time than it should have, to realize that my priorities were mixed up and that love was not the main thing in my life.  It was not my first priority, but it needed to be.  The commitment to learn how to walk in love has been the single best decision I have ever made as a Christian!

Love not only blesses others; it also blesses the one doing the loving.  Concentration on being a blessing to others will bring joy to our hearts like we've never before known!  We can only truly love others by receiving and expressing God's love.  When we do, we begin a love walk that causes us to live in a new way—a new way of thinking, a new way of speaking, and a new way of acting.  Love is expressed in many different ways, but one factor is always the same:  LOVE GIVES!

May God shower His abundant and unconditional love upon each of you, dear brothers and sisters-in-Christ.   Hope your Saturday is filled with many gentle reminders of how very much God loves you, remembering also that we are blessed in our live by God in order to be a blessing!
